Monday, December 07, 2009 Remembering Pearl Harbor Today is December 7, a day that will truly live in infamy as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said. It was on this date in 1941 that the USS Arizona was attacked in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, killing more than 2000 American soldiers. If you are ever in Hawaii, a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial is highly recommended. Though their numbers are dwindling some 68 years after the attack, Pearl Harbor survivors still volunteer their time to educate visitors, and their stories are appreciated by all who hear them. We at the American School certainly appreciate our armed forces past and present, not only on Pearl Harbor Day, but every other day of the year as well. |
